Step 4: Navigate and select “Interactive Logon: Prompt user to change the password before expiration.”

Step 5: After clicking this option, then go to “security policy settings” tab. Here you can make sure once “Define this policy setting” is selected. If not, then please check this option, and you can set the days for “Begin prompting this many days before the password expires.”. For example, when you set 14 days, then prompt notified user computer before 14 days their password will expire.

Step 6: Next open the CMD prompt and execute the following command: –

gpupdate /force

Step 7: After all changes are completed then restart your computer once.

Set Password Expire notification prompt using Registry Editor in Windows

Step 1: First go to windows start menu and type “regedit” and enter.

Step 2:  Next find the following directory.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.

Step 3: After that in the right-side pane find the item named “PasswordExpiryWarning.

Step 4: Click this option after you can see the Edit DWORD screen and click the “Decimal” checkbox. Next, find the “Value data” option enter the number of days you want to set password expired prompt notification shows to the user.

Step 5: After all completed then close the registry editor screen and reboot your system.
