Of course, we all face it at least once in our life after sending a mail we become confused about whether it delivered or not. And sometimes whether our important mail is read or not .So to reduce the confusion so many applications introduced read receipt and delivery receipt. A read receipt is an indication of whether the send message is read by the receiver or not.

In Microsoft Outlook You can know that the send email is delivered and read or not by sending a read and delivery receipt. Moreover read receipt lets you confirm that your mail is read by the receiver. And delivery receipt lets you confirm that your mail is delivered successfully. How to send read receipts in outlook?

How to send a read receipt for a single message

  • First up all you can open the outlook.
  • From the ribbon go-to the options tab.
  • After that you can navigate to tracking section.
  • Select Request  a read receipt under the “for all message sent request“.
  • Click Ok.

How to send read receipt in the outlook for all messages

  • From the ribbon select File.
  • Then go to the options tab.
  • And after select mail from the left.
  • Next you can navigate to tracking section.
  • Moreover select the checkbox Request  a read receipt under the “for all message sent request“.
  • Select the checkbox read receipt confirming the recipient viewed the message.
  • Click Ok.

How to Request a Delivery receipt for a single message

  • From the ribbon go-to the options tab.
  • You can Navigate to tracking section.
  • Then Select Request  a Request  a Delivery receipt under the “for all message sent request“.
  • Click Ok.

How to Request  Delivery receipt in the outlook for all messages

  • From the ribbon select File.
  • Then go to the options tab
  • Then select mail from the left
  • Navigate to tracking section
  • In further Select the checkbox Request  a Delivery receipt under the “for all message sent request“.
  • Select the checkbox delivery receipt confirming the message was  delivered to the recipient  email server.
  • Click Ok.

Note: You can also create a  read receipt rule to get the delivery and read receipt. You will get notifications when it satisfies your conditions.

  • Firstly, From Home tab select rules.
  • Afterwards select manage rules & alerts.
  • Then click  Email rules then new rules.
  • Select “message I received” or “message I send“.
  • Then select next.
  • From rules-wizard select  your condition.
  • Click next.
  • from the list of actions wizard checked ” Notify me when it delivered” or “Notify me when it read“.
  • now select next for 2 times.
  • click finish.

How to Turn off  Answering  read-receipt request in outlook

Sometimes we don’t want to let the sender know about our read receipt. So it is better to disable receiving the read-receipt request.

  • From the ribbon select File.
  • Then go to the options tab.
  • Select mail from the left.
  • Then navigate to tracking section.
  • Under for any message that includes read-receipt request select “Never send a read receipt” or “Ask each time whether to send a read receipt“.
  • click ok.

How to track recipient  Response

  • Visit your sent item folder/ box.
  • open a message which you send with a message request.
  • then from the message tab  in the show group click tracking.

Now you can get to know when and whoever read your mail.
